3rd Annual Noon Kiwanis Lake Alice Winter Karnival

Music, bonfire marshmallows, and a cozy carriage ride around the lake

Sunday was the third annual Fergus Falls Noon Kiwanis Lake Alice Winter Karnival. From 2 – 4 p.m., families enjoyed free activities put on by Noon Kiwanis and various sponsors, including The Daily Journal, Dorn & Co., InVision, Pemberton Law and St. James Episcopal Church.

“These very generous sponsors make the carnival possible for us,” said Noon Kiwanis member, Tom Rufer.

According to Rufer, who was DJing at the event on Lake Alice, Kiwanis members volunteered to run various activities while St. James Episcopal church provided refreshments.

Families were invited to skate on Lake Alice, paint in the snow, roast marshmallows, enjoy horse-drawn carriages, visit animals at the petting zoo (provided by Trowbridge Creek Zoo) and play a game of ice golf.

Since it’s beginning three years ago, Rufer said the event has always gotten great support from the city.

The City of Fergus Falls has staffed the warming house for the carnival and this year, they created the skating track and groomed a cross-country ski trail around the lake. Efforts by the city also included the Park and Recreation Department and the Fergus Falls Police Department.
