Snowmobile Rendezvous on tap in Pequot Lakes
The 25th annual Antique Snowmobile Rendezvous begins Thursday, Jan. 17, in Pequot Lakes.
The three-day event begins with "Shop Night" at 6 p.m. at the home of Dave and Barb Guenther. Those attending this "good old Minnesota potluck" are encouraged to bring an item to share.
At noon Friday, Jan. 18, the event resumes with an antique and vintage trail ride - newer sleds are welcome as well - to Timberjack Smokehouse, followed by a campfire cookout on the trail north of Pequot Lakes.
The Vintage and Antique Snowmobile Show will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in Trailside Park, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at the Pequot Lakes American Legion. Awards will be given for the oldest operational machine, best original antique, best restored antique Cutter Class/Peer's Choice Award, rat sled (must run), best original/restored vintage machine (1969 or newer) and best costume.
Performance demonstrations will start at 1 p.m. at Trailside Park featuring drag, oval, reverse oval and obstacle runs on antique sleds from 1966 and older.
A second trail ride will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a social hour at 5 p.m. at the American Legion leading into a meal and program to close out the rendezvous.
