Free kids fishing clinic Saturday at Lum Park

The Brainerd Kids Fishing Clinic will take place Saturday, May 25, at Lum Park in Brainerd.


The event is free to attend. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. next to pavilion No. 1, closest to the water. Learning stations start at 9:30 a.m. and include knot tying, fish identification, minnow races, fish fillet, casting, invasive species and more.

Kids must attend stations to be able to participate in lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the fishing contest, which runs from 12:05-1:30 p.m. There will be an award ceremony at 1:40 p.m.

Ages 4 to 14 are welcome to attend and all participants should have an adult with them at all times.

Kids with their own fishing poles are welcome to bring them, otherwise a fishing poles will be provided.

Volunteers for the event are Muskies Inc., DNR Fisheries, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department Boat and Water division, DNR Conservation, Brainerd Warrior Fishing Team and the Gull Lake Corps of Engineers. Mill Avenue Holiday is providing a limited supply of worms for the fishing contest.
