Commissioners followed the recommendation of the county planning commission which heard the same objections at their Aug. 14 meeting.

A plan for development of 51 campground sites and 13 boat slips in Section 32 of Rush Lake Township was approved by the county board.

The purpose of the planning commission is to review conditional use permit applications and make recommendations to the county board of commissioners for final action.

Some objections for the Long Lake campground project pertained to possible congestion, safety issues, water quality and other matters raised at the county board meeting in New York Mills.

County Land and Resource Director Chris LeClair told county commissioners that all of these issues were previously addressed at the Aug. 14 planning commission meeting. He added that the campground applicants had followed all of the proper governmental procedures.
